...It occured to me that while I've been writing up Sunny's history, it's sort of like documenting her family genealogy..and watching her moving from relative to relative...hopefully this will be *Home*. This is her story..
SunnyBus was born in December 1971. (even thou she's a 1972 bus) . We were both born in European countries, Sunny in Hannover, Germany. I was born in Cornwall, England. Sunny was shipped over to *Flow Motors* in Winston Salem, North Carolina. (http://www.flowmotors.com). I didn't emigrate to America until 1979, but I went to Newport, NC.. small world.
Flow Motors VW franchise was started in the 1960's by Vic Flow's father, who began with a dozen VW's on his lot, that was originally located in dowtown Winston Salem. By the late 1970's they had moved to 425 Corporation (now Silas Parkway, in Winston Salem, where SunnyBus was sold from. Below is SunnyBus on her 2004 visit to Winston Salem, parked in front of Flow motors..**Old and New**

SUNNY'S 5 BUS PILOTS!!
JAMES HERBERT WILLIAMS
Her first Bus pilot was James Herbert Williams (My grandfathers name was Herbert James...coincidence hmm?)
In December of 2003, I talked to his son Jim on the phone. He kindly told me about his father.. James was almost 60 when he brought SunnyBus for J. Williams and Co., the family business.
James was a VW man. He had owned two VW's before Sunny, both Beetles brought from Flows. He had a small printing business in Yadkinville, NC. The firm printed legal forms and such for firms on the East coast and business was thriving. James went to chat with
Vic Flow, who was an exclusive VW dealer at the time, looking for a bigger vehicle. James had a growing business, three children Jim, Sam and their sister(sorry I forgot her name..) and wanted a Van for delivering orders to clients. He spotted SunnyBus.
Jim explained to me that his father loved the *Goldenrod* flower, and it was fathers colour.. A burnt umber orange. (SunnyBus was originally an orangy yellow called Sierra Yellow (L11H) and White (L90D).) James brought Sunny that afternoon. He kept her for a while, took out the middle seat for more pratical purposes and used her to do deliveries and day trips with his family.
In 1986 , James retired from the business and traded Sunny when she had about 58,000 miles on her for a Ford truck to go fishing and hunting in. Sunny returned to Flow Motors Lot.
James passed away a few year later..
Thanks to Jim Williams and his family for the information.

..LOOKING FOR CLUES..
****When I redid Sunny and derusted her, I found a lot of old service stickers, which I lifted off from her to avoid further deteriation, and stuck them in her owners manual.
In 9/28/85 she had 45402 miles.

The texaco one was illegible...but the gargae was in NC.
In 5/8/95 Sunny had 72618. (Forsyth VW, Sterling. 723-3524) ..They had Sunny in 1995,
**As of 2003, Forsyth Auto Brokers Inc 1795 Silas Creek Pkwy Winston Salem NC.
In 2004, I met Chris Cybulski at EBus. He gave me some old papers he had of Sunny's and with those clues I pieced her story together.

RAYMOND BRYANT WILSON MORGAN
Ray was Sunny's second pilot.. With a little persistance, I found Ray's Daughter, who was sweet enough to put me in touch with her Brother after I explained to her about my search for Sunny's prevoius owners.. In 1986, a few months after Sunny was traded back to Flow's, she was brought by David Morgan for his Dad, Raymond... David worked for Flow Motors in sales. He said Mr Williams had traded in SunnyBus to the dealership and he thought Sunny would be a perfect runabout for his dad who was retired, but still did odd job work. He said she had low milage and was in great shape..
David told me Sunny was hit in nose by a deer in 1993, and her repair work included her being painted. The Yellow was a true beetle colour to the year 1972, as VW no longer made Sienna Yellow. so Sunnybus became Sunshine yellow and white.
Ray kept the bus for many years, running Sunnybus about Winston Salem before Ray sold the bus to Chris C. at the end of 1997. He was about 80 years old.
Raymond passed away..
Thanks to David Morgan, and the Morgan Family for this information.

CHRIS CYBULSKI
Chris was Sunny's third Bus pilot.. In Chris's words:
I bought the bus in Nov 1997 from an 82 year old man in Winston-Salem, NC. I do not recall his name but it is on some receipts
that I have somewhere. His son bought it for him in 1988 supposedly from a VW Dealership. If that was in Winston then it was Flow motors
who originally sold the bus in 1972.
If you look at the owners manual, I think it has service dates until about 1976 or 1977. As I recall the mileage in the late 70s was only about 35K. Someone got ahold of it in the early 80s and put about 30k miles on it. The guy I bought it from only put about 10k miles on it while he owned it. I bought it with 77k on the dial and I think that was really correct based on the mileage in the manual, dated receipts and some oil change stickers on the door...those are probably gone now.****(see note above)
I gotta tell ya, I loved that bus. I wish I had not sold it. It broke my heart when It was hit while parked on the street outside of Joel's
house.
I met Chris at EB in 2004, He's a crazy sweet person!! Thanks Chris.

JOEL WILSON
I don't a soul that doesn't love Joel. He is a super nice guy, that brought SunnyBus from Chris in 2000. When I get time I hope to sit a spell with Joel and find out his story with Sunny.
I met up again with Joel at EB in 2004 also, more to follow !!
