SunnyNKai

So..We're at Wachovia and final bits are done,Sunny is mine!!

Having title in hand,I hugged Joel and thanked him for Sunny , took my first pic of her.. ..oO(because I'm sentimental and she's my first Bus). Below is Sunny outside the Bank in Raleigh, NC. :)

SunnyNC

We topped Sunny off with petrol and headed for the first step of our 890 0dd mile trip home with her.

She did great. It was a long 7 hours from Raleigh, North Carolina to Bluefield, West Virginia, where we finally decided to stop for the night. We didn't leave Raleigh until 2pm so by 8pm we were famished and tired. We grabbed a bite to eat and As night fell, we stopped at the Ramada just of the Highway. It was a welcome sight as we pulled in.

The drive was beautiful through the mountains at a slow pace. Sunny handled it like a trouper although her brakes we slightly *free*..(Maybe fluids would have helped, we forgot to check the simple stuff.. and she was on empty...lol) but, We had made it to the mountains in one piece, half way home.

That night, I looked out the window of the motel and smiled.. "Sweet dreams my new friend.." I whispered softly. We went to bed with dreams of my new family member.

Day 2: West Virgina

sunny in West Virginia

Mr Dan driving, as usual he had his full *morning* attitude going!! We headed out of Bluefield and into the Blueridge mountains- It was great weather, although the radio stations were all *country* and we only had one Grateful dead tape which Joel had left us for the 9 hour trip. Now, don't get me wrong,Gerry is good for a few scratchy hours. But not 2 straight days!!

Into Virgina

Sunny crosses to Virginia

We stopped for lunch and coffee in Virginia and a little coffee shop, then back on the road, we were heading for Portsmouth,Ohio. If we'd have known what the place was like , well We'd have avoided it like the plague!! There were 47 sets of lights to get through town and we hit almost every RED one!! ARGH!!!

Finally, Ohio.

Sunny finally in Ohio

Finally!! we made it to Ohio. IT was 3.30pm and we stopped to stretch our legs for a few.. We grabbed a bite to eat at McDees before the final push home. We kept counting familiar signs, road markers. **If Sunny breaks down, we're only two hours from home..then one hour.. You know the deal! But by the time we pulled into the driveway, we had a new friend and hopefully this was the start of many good adventures in SunnyBus.

You can tell, I'm attached to my Bus..to update a little, it's November 20th.. I emailed Joel on a whim to thank him for a good bus.. I found out Joel had brought her from Chris Cybulski, who should be at Everybus this coming April..So if the weather isnt too inclement, and Sunny is paticipatory..We'll be meeting up with two of her previous owners!! :) I'm happy about it.
