Kelley's Mansion..

Homes on Kelley's Island....

As you drive around this little Island, you begin to get a *feel* for it. The pace of life is serene and cosy. The villagers are a tight knit family of happy folks, very aware of the privilage that comes from living on the Island.

Their homes are a blend of past and present, Mansions reside happily next to gingerbread cottages that peek out from the treelined shore. In the english tradition, most have their own names and all had their own personality!

If you get a chance, take a tour of Kelley's Mansion. It's the big three story mansion overlooking the shore. It was built around 1860 by Addison Kelley. It's unique Features include it's amazing free standing spiral staircase, rose colored cut crystal windows, and handsome woodwork. Mansion tours are conducted for a small donation.(It was closed for repairs over winter when we were there).

It's a pleasant walk about the shoreline, and a chance to soak up a little Island history..Finally don't forget Division Street, the police station and town hall are on the National Historical registry for districts.!!

Happy trails!
