FRIDAY 13TH, AUGUST.
A few hours to go
I'm sitting in SunnyBus eyeing the items left to pack into her before leaving for Frank's annual shindig in Rustic Knolls Campground. It's weird weather this year with near record Lows for August... but it's *PERFECT* camping weather. 70's in the day & 50's at night.
Hmm, add a few fleecy things for night time and I'm ready to hit the road. It's only 120 miles to Dixie bus from our house, so Mr Dan and I didn't leave until 11am..(aka, we slept in..). It was a good drive up and we spotted the church landmark on Franks direction sheet about 1pm and turned into Keys Drive.
The Camp was very pretty. The Seasonal campers in their RV's tightly communed around the safety of the office building and shower room. I checked SunnyBus in for two nights before heading around the community building, past the lake to the back field set aside for the VW's to congregate on.
There's something magical about a beautiful Summers day..
The shimmer of late dew lifting in a steamy spire from the meadow
, a young doe enjoying an afternoon snack on some wildflowers, a
faint cry from a cardinal chatting.. I'm glad I stopped to enjoy
those things before parking SunnyBus by the drive and going to
say our greetings to the early assembly of campers...
