Columbus Car Show..

Carabus.

SATURDAY 14th, 2004.

Frank was *intense* about leaving at 8am from the camp and by the time Mr Dan and I got back from a quick shower, he had already taken the Tribe in a carabus to the Car show.

Luckily John, Greg, and a few others waited and made a second carabus, which we happily joined.

We proceeded to meander over Ohio. John gave Greg the tour of several scenic towns, Most of Mt Vernon, um..a library parking lot, and some other worthy sights of our beautiful state which John turned us about to see for a second time.. before the fearless leader consulted with Michele over a map and got us out of the semi-lost predicament and finally to the high school.. :) It was a nifty few hours!!

Kit Car VW Kit car Kai & Herbie Smokin' !!

We found a parking spot for SunnyBus and headed for the swap meet. I was on a quest to chase down some parts for SunnyBus and Kittie's red bug. I found some *treasures* and then Mr Dan spotted the food tent !! On our way there, Midwest auto's had a version of Herbie..I had to get a couple of pics, it was smokin'!! We headed over tent and sat in the shade with our munchies. Having eaten, we were now in the mood to explored the show area, we started at the Bugs..

Camping, bug style. Modified VW's great tool kit. Drool!!

I found a beautiful 1957 Porche..drool as always, then on to my favorites ..the Buses..

Trio Waugaman unique display.. nice splittie Buses in a row
Yellow submarine Teal splittie/Tent! Super clean bus 1966 Bus from Montana
Recognise anyone? Thing with uber stereo Following John Home John tries to escape, lol

It was a great show, saw lots of OVT folks..John was gracious enough to let me follow him back to camp.. :) Ty for that JB.

We spent the afternoon relaxing at Rustic Knolls, read a few new VW trends I picked up, had a nap for a few hours..then enjoyed the night time festivities. Frank exceeded himself with the Chilli, the batch was awesome and everyone agreed..Frank is THEE chilli god. After supper, we sat and watched Frank build a huge fire.. I had a chance to say hello to Patty aka *Mrs Frank*, it's always great to see her. Then chatted with the other folks, enjoyed the door prizes..and a few more beers..before bed. (We were catching up from the previous night and 3 hours sleep..)

------------Sunday 15th...

Morning was glorious.. Fresh air, dewey grass..the unique *woosh* sounds of cargo doors opening and closing, birds chattering in the trees and sunshine.. I walked over to Franks Diner, and offered up my services for breakfast in the cooks line.. Soon food was abundant and the sleepy Tribe came out of the woodwork for some breakfast burritoes.. I had some grub with Greg Pott's family..Super nice Kids!! :) and his wife Colleen is hilarious..She should write some stories of their camping trips.. After a few hours, we figured it was time to pack SunnyBus for the drive home..All in all...A great time..and a teriffic campout!!!

Final thoughts:

No thanks

On the way home, some guy from Michigan pulled up along side SunnyBus with a Ferrari..I looked at it..up on the Trailer, Jealous? No, because he will always have to *worry* about it..

With SunnyBus..Well, I camp, go offroading, have the kids/dogs/food inside her..and she always looks after me..She not just an object.. She's Family.. *I LOVE MY BUS!!!* and wouldn't trade her for anything..Just thoughts from the road..Thanks for reading..
