Baker's Bash, 2004

*AnyPlace*, Rural America... It has a special feeling about it. The pace of life is timeless there. The horizons are endless and people's souls are seasoned with the flavors of amaglagamated closeness .. The rivers seem to meander a little slower and country byways trace their lines over this great land, guiding us to sacred spots on the maps we follow. Good folks journey from their homes to this small shangrila to meet with friends.. It's a welcoming destination. Where the beer's always cold, there's Food in a spead as big as the glorious outdoors. The coffee is always hot, the campfires warm, and there's good music and smiles.

Each person is important and brings their own flavor of comfort, laughter, story telling and mischief that gets blended into the melting Pot of VW Bus people known as The Ohio Valley Tribe..

The special place this time was John and Patti's Home in Pleasant Plain.

SunnyBus cruised Hwy 68 to 71 and then cut into the country roads that lead us on every adventure.. It's a beautiful drive thru long curving roads, forests of Gentle, green giants, wildlife and rivers. An easy 15 miles of curbside pleasures brought us to JB's Home on the Edge of his Village. We pulled in, greeted by *Goldie*, Ted's VW in the Driveway and a Green Camper on the front lawn.. :) I parked SunnyBus under a Mulberry Tree in the Back Yard (Field!!) and proceeded to the kitchen to fridge a few food items. After Sunny was settled, it was time to get get caught up..

Mike & Addy from Toledo showed up in most of his Bus. It's a labour of love in progress and I'm sure it will be sweet when it's done. Eric and his lovely wife brought their VW and an Uber cute child to share the weekend.. We chatted with them and shared the latest issue of SPANK, before sitting by Ted to catch up on his latest.. I discussed the design features of his shorts..oO(don't ask..lol) and then onto using Ebay for a bit. ...Then surprise, Frank and HapyBus showed up.. to groovie!!.

Mr Dan needed to stretch out after sitting for a few hours in SunnyBus, so we ambled slowly up the road to a yard sale, which was fruitful. We got some magazine racks and a dart board for 25 cents. :) ..oO(Seemed the whole town was having one..I'l be there earlier next time :) By the time we got back, Michele and her Bus, *Uncle John* had arrived. It was good to see her out and about again after the engine replacement. We had a good chat before the aroma from the food John was chefing up began begging our tummies into action..

He cooked up some delicious Burgers, hotdogs, chicken that were accompanied by a plethera of tasty side-dishes covering the buffet/workbench in the garage.. We all ate way to much because the food was SO good.. YUMMIE!! After Dins..it was out to the back field to catch the Man Made Moon Band at their best.

The guys in this band have a relaxed way with harmonies that eases you into a blend of groovin' syncopation. It's a sweet ride thru each meldoic, mellow song they perform. Every time I hear them, it's more polished. Their instrumentation and unity are pleasingly gentle to a soul. They covered some great little ditties before the crowd encouraged Terry to do a small guitar set. He was great. Singing with a shy, tuneful voice about Woodstock, peacefully inviting us on a journey from the '60's before the band came back to close out with some more original songs.. With the concert over, the campfire was lit and folks gathered to chat somemore.

Mr Dan and I retired to SunnyBus for the night and drifted off as the Capt' Morgans, Ted's Cherries and the Brews from earlier caught up on us. :) I found out that if you get an Icey Coke and put about 3 of Ted's Cherries in a full glass, it makes a delicious drink. His Cherries are just wonderful, but have a certain *Wow* factor that numbs the roof of your mouth..oO( I wonder how he makes the little treasures..?) So I tend to wimp out and instead of having them straight, put them in my Coke..and they are groovie.. Thanks Ted for another great batch of the crimson miracles!!

Falling to Sleep was wonderful. I left SunnyBus's windows open, the bug screens I made worked great. We watched Fireflies light up a huge Farmers field next to John's home. A short intense storm earlier had cooled the air and it was perfect. The little bats supplied a wonderful ariel ballet as they chased the insects.. time to drift. After a good night, we woke to the dawn creeping it's long fingers over the earth and into our little Bus haven.

I helped John cook the burritos as the rest of the Tribe wandered from their buses to the house for their first round of Patti's excellent Coffee. They circled the deck with chairs and enjoyed the morning with some sleepy chitchat and laughter. everyone was well fed again before getting ready to head out on a picture perfect Sunday. John and Patti were munificent hosts...oO(yep, it's spelt correctly..lol). Modestly accepting praise for their kindness in hosting yet again another sucessful *Baker Bash*.. Thanks again you two :)
