It was a late summer day, the sky was praticing it's pinks & blues of a
well orchestrated sunset. I needed to finish up a few pictures on a roll
of film I had in the camera and Sunny needed a trip.
Mr Dan and I decided to head out with her to a quiet spot in
town behind a huge Lowes store, where there was mostly hills, forest and a meandering river
basin hidden by a tangle of shrubs. We liked the spot because there were no
powerlines to get in the way of the sunset, perfect for pictures, and if we are quiet, the wildlife
didn't seem to mind us at all.
I was watching the deer and waiting for the sun to set the sky on fire. Dan
was praticing with his new digital camera. Nature's ever changing light teaching
him about the exposures and limitations of his new toy.
I was thinking how calm life was in that moment while we watched deer munching the foliage, bunnies frolicing,
clouds making picasso pictures only they understood.
I closed my eyes and listened to the wind playing gently thru the branches. I could here the river faintly in the
valley below, a dog was barking somewhere, the birds were making a riot of noise in their distant roost while
getting ready to settle in for the night. I thanked Gaia silently for letting me
experience her wonder.
As I opened my eyes, I saw the clouds forming letters. I watched for a
second before lifting my camera and shooting the word *S.L.O.W* floating across in front
of me. It was only a few minutes before they disipated into the crimson sky.
Slo..(sorry I cut of the *w*).
I looked back and smiled at SunnyBus patiently resting on the parking lot ..oO(Slow eh? I thought). Perfect speed for
both of us old girls, you for driving and me for life. You don't miss so many messages in life when you're *slow*!
We watched the last ray melt on the horizon and SunnyBus took us home.
...oO(and yes, that was an untouched picture..)
